5 Ways to Honour the Month of the Holy Rosary at Granville

October traditionally honours the Holy Rosary and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. The Blessed Virgin Mary offers 15 promises to those who devoutly pray the Holy Rosary.

  • To all those who shall pray my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and great graces.
  • Those who shall persevere in the recitation of my Rosary will receive some special grace.
  • The Rosary will be a very powerful armour against hell; it will destroy vice, deliver from sin and dispel heresy.
  • The Rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
  • Those who trust themselves to me through the Rosary will not perish.
  • Whoever recites my Rosary devoutly reflecting on the mysteries, shall never be overwhelmed by misfortune. He will not experience the anger of God nor will he perish by an unprovided death. The sinner will be converted; the just will persevere in grace and merit eternal life.
  • Those truly devoted to my Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
  • Those who are faithful to recite my Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces and will share in the merits of the blessed.
  • I will deliver promptly from purgatory souls devoted to my Rosary.
  • True children of my Rosary will enjoy great glory in heaven.
  • What you shall ask through my Rosary you shall obtain
  • To those who propagate my Rosary I promise aid in all their necessities.
  • I have obtained from my Son that all the members of the Rosary Confraternity shall have as their intercessors, in life and in death, the entire celestial court.
  • Those who recite my Rosary faithfully are my beloved children, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ.
  • Devotion to my Rosary is a special sign of predestination.

There are many opportunities within the Granville Catholic Community in which you can incorporate the Holy Rosary into your regular devotions.

1. Join us in praying the Holy Rosary

“The Rosary is the most excellent form of prayer and the most efficacious means of attaining eternal life. It is the remedy for all our evils, the root of all our blessings. There is no more excellent way of praying.” Pope Leo XIII

Every Wednesday evening at 6:30PM, parishioners lead the Holy Rosary at Holy Family Church, East Granville. This is a great opportunity for those that prefer to pray as a community. Join parishioners and offer your prayers for loved ones or a special intention.

2. Pray the Holy Rosary before Mass

“When you say your Rosary, the angels rejoice, the Blessed Trinity delights in it, my Son finds joy in it too, and I myself am happier than you can possibly guess. After the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, there is nothing in the Church that I love as much as the Rosary.”- Our Lady to Blessed Alan de la Roche

Both Holy Trinity Church and Holy Family Church open early, before Mass begins. This is the perfect time to prepare for the celebration of Holy Mass by praying the Holy Rosary silently. The Churches offer various altars, chapels and gardens in which you can spend some time before Our Lady praying the Holy Rosary. This is a great opportunity to seek the intercession of Our Lady.

3. Listen to the Holy Rosary

“You always leave the Rosary for later, and you end up not saying it at all because you are sleepy. If there is no other time, say it in the street without letting anybody notice it. It will, moreover, help you to have presence of God.” – St. Josemaria Escriva

If you would like to incorporate the Holy Rosary into your day-to-day routine, the Parish App Rosary Feature is perfect. You can pray the Holy Rosary with an audio guide, being led through prayer and reflection upon scripture. This is a great way to include the Holy Rosary into your day-to-day tasks or daily work commute. Take this time to reflect on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary, and the joys and sorrows of our Blessed Mother.

You can download the Parish App by Searching for myParish in the App Store or Google Play Store.

4. Visit the Piety Store

“If you wish to convert anyone to the fullness of the knowledge of Our Lord and of His Mystical Body, then teach him the Rosary. One of two things will happen. Either he will stop saying the Rosary — or he will get the gift of faith.” ~Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Our Parish Piety Stores offer an array of rosaries, rosary inspired books and other items to help you with your personal prayer. Visit the Parish Piety Store before or after Sunday Masses and purchase a rosary to help you with your prayers this month. This is also a great opportunity to share the beauty and power of the Holy Rosary with loved ones, by also purchasing a book or rosary for them.

5. Honour Mary by attending Saturday Morning Mass

“Abandon yourself in the hands of Mary. She will take care of you.” – St. Padre Pio

The Church sets aside Saturday to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary. Include an additional devotion to your week this October and join the Granville Catholic Community for a Saturday morning Mass.

Every Saturday, 8:15AM – Holy Mass at Holy Trinity Church, Granville

Every Saturday, 9:15AM – Holy Mass at Holy Family Church, East Granville
