2019 – A Year In Review

Today we end another year, another decade. As with every year, 2019 has been packed with liturgies, Masses and events that have brought our community together. Regular annual highlights united us again, such as the Holy Trinity Fair, Red Wednesday liturgies, and Lights of Christmas Bus Trip. The processions through the streets of Granville grew in numbers this year with the return of the Assumption Procession and the Cross Walk.  We showcased the musical talent of our community with our Tenebrae Service and Carols by Candlelight. We marked the seasons of Advent and Lent with events and liturgies, helping us draw closer to our Catholic faith and faith community.

Along with these regular events, 2019 saw the introduction of two new events to the social calendar. The Outdoor Movie Night gathered the parish community with parish schools for a fun-filled night infront of the big screen with plenty of snacks. The inaugural Parish Pilgrimage helped us mark the Exaltation of the Holy Cross with prayer, processing from Holy Family Church to Holy Trinity Church.

2019 brought more beauty to Holy Trinity Church. The generosity of parishioners and families has seen the addition of two angels as well as the restoration of the Crucifix above the sanctuary.

The Parish Ministries flourished as well. The Holy Trinity Friendship Group enjoyed a number of bus trips and morning teas. The Children’s Liturgy teams grew, and with this growth, we saw many more families come forward for their children to learn about the Sunday Gospel and order of the Mass. The Catechists continued their brilliant work in State Schools.

The Trinitarians Youth Ministry had a year full of fundraising and the parish generously contributed and supported our young parishioners as they travelled to Panama for World Youth Day and Perth for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival. In between all of this, the Trinitarians continued to meet monthly to discuss and reflect on big topics, relevant to their lives as young Catholics.

Amongst all of this, our social media has hit a few goals too! The Facebook and Instagram profiles have helped us connect with thousands globally and locally. We’re wrapping up 2019 with over 3000 likes and are pleased to have been able to share our social media strategy with other parishes and Diocesan groups.

Reflecting on 2019 in such a way helps us realise what a big year it has been. This all happened between the daily Masses, regular devotions, the Sacraments Programs and the various meetings of different teams and ministries. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed though! 2019 has seen Holy Trinity spotlighted in the Catholic Outlook and has had us welcome many visitors to enjoy all our Granville home has to offer.

We thank everyone who has shared their talents, donated their time and helped us make 2019 a success! From those that serve alongside Fr. Andrew at Mass, our readers, those who help in our Piety Store, those who help with our photography, Music ministry, Children’s Liturgy, Youth Ministry and Friendship Group. We also thank those that help behind the scenes, especially those who volunteer their time to clean our Church and arrange our weekly flower arrangements, assist with the Catechism Program and the Parish Sacraments Program. Mostly, we’re grateful for your continued support of initiatives and events.

We especially owe our gratitude to Fr. Andrew who has selflessly committed himself to serving both Holy Trinity Church and Holy Family Church. Day in and day out, Fr. Andrew has offered, led, overseen and advised every Mass, liturgy and event 2019 has brought. Without his support and guidance, 2019 would not be the success that it has been.

We look forward to another successful year in 2020!
